Got this for my anxious 3-year-old. Very glad that I did. These are methods that she can learn now & keep throughout her life. I was surprised by the quality of the book design. It feels good to hold & is well designed. The illustrations are lovely. The book itself is calming. Simply beautiful. Would make a good gift & good for any child. So thankful for this book.

My 7 yo was upset. Decided to try this. Tried one, didn’t work. Tried another didn’t work. Tried a 3rd didn’t work. Tried a 4th. Worked like a charm. Thankfully there are 50 exercises in here. You are bound to find one. They are all child friendly enough that they will engage your child. Even the ones that purportedly didn’t work held the attention and maybe they were indeed working. Maybe it takes time to calm down. All will hold their attention.

We love this book so much! My 4 year old has severe anxiety. I have been trying to find age appropriate ways to teach her mindfulness and get her to pause and breathe when she starts getting anxious. Kira Willey's book doesthe job for me in an absolutely fantastic way. The illustrations are engaging, each practice is inventive (but on a level that a 4 year old can understand), and the way the practices are divided makes it much easier for me to pick on in a pinch. We've been doing a meditation from this book every day, and I've seen a big difference in how my little handles her anxiety.

This book is delightful and, like author Kira Willey's music, pleasing to both kids and adults alike. My energetic six-year-old son willingly and happily sits to practice the fun, simple mindfulness activities. I love that he is learning bite-sized ways to increase awareness, focus, and the ability to calm himself. Every child can benefit from mindfulness — Breathe Like a Bear delivers it beautifully.

Perfect to read just a few at a time, practice them together. We do them in public alot when my son needs to calm down. He is 4.5 and enjoys reading the book, doing the activities, and can use them to calm down when directed.He struggles (although not often) with being easily overwhelmed, anxious, and upset. When he encounters a situation that upsets him, he works himself up until he can't even talk. These quickly calm him back down. This is exactly what we needed! We were on a vacation when he had panic attack at a fun "experience" that was about $50 per person due to overwhelming visuals and noises. He had been so excited to go, and had been talking about it for weeks. But ended up spending less than 10 minutes inside, and wouldn't go back in. It breaks my heart that we didnt have this book before then because I think he reasonably knows that certain things arent real but in the moment cant cope. There are SO many exercises in this book to help with SO many situations. This is the handbook that parents of sensitive kiddos need. Taking a moment to calm down can be fun. And other pages include instructions on how to "send positive thoughts" and other important conversation starters for little ones.

We love this book so much. I have a preschool-aged child, and we have been looking for more ways to teach him mindfulness. Since we bought this book, he looks forward to doing one of the exercises before we wind down for bedtime. The pictures are beautiful and the different techniques are fun for kids (and adults!).

My 6 year old son absolutely Loves this book. I've tried different calm book and this is the most perfect for him now in his stage in life. He loves that it has sections. He picks a section and has me read the title of 'the chapers' and then finds the page number. The pictures are sooo cute and he has really resonated with the exercises. We've even been able to successfully use a few of the exercises during the day in a challenging time when his emotions were rising to shift to calm. Yay!

A must have! Such a GREAT quality book too- graphics are beautiful, overall binding is perfect and sturdy.The stories have really helped my child (and me!), learn to me more aware of our feelings, and manage them accordingly (when they need to be managed).
