I really like Lonely Planet guides in general, and have used them for my travels for decades. However, this new edition has not updated many of the index pages or pages in the text. This makes the relevant pages very hard to find.
We are planning a trip to Egypt in March of 2019. This books answers so many practical questions that we had. Money exchange, phone SIM cards , appropriate clothing, etc. It also has many color illustrations that make us anxious to get started on our adventure. We have traveled to many European countries and Lonely Planet has never let us down!
I spent two days in Cairo and four days in Luxor in 2019. The suggested meals were pretty good. The details of the sites were spot on. There were some nice bits about touts, salesmen, beggars, and other assorted pests that travelors to Egypt will encounter.
I liked it because it was very updated with information and was not took large so easy to carry
