Excellent novel - as always T. Davis Bunn explores themes of the Christian faith. "The Presence" is an intimate look at one man's calling and anointing to serve in a specific way. Bunn doesn't shrink from telling how this kind of radical change in a person's life can affect his family and friends, and how doubts nearly drive him to abandon the calling. The story line carries the reader to the next chapter all the way to the end. And as he often does in his books, a subculture within the Christian church is explored, in this case spotlighting American black Christian churches. Neither eulogizing or judging, he takes us inside to share in the experience.
This book is not well written. The characters are very cardboard and the situations very contrived. It’s not a bad read, but it’s not a good one either.
This novel was done so very well that it gave me back my faith in our government!We need to be the one nation under God again, and Mr. Bunn made it happen!With his mighty pen! I would have voted for T.J. Case!
What an incredible book. One anointed man can have an overwhelming affect on whoever crosses his path. The book encourages me listen to the Holy Spirit in me on what I say, do, and be open to His leading.
This is my first T. Davis Bunn book. I’ve read few authors with his writing ability. The story line was somewhat basic yet I found myself drawn in to the point of being deeply impacted.
I enjoyed the book, overall. Lots of faith boosting circumstances, and the story line kept me going. Maybe the author was a bit hard on Catholic’s -
Recommend to any who are also praying like I am for the Lord to raise up a prophetic voice like TJ’s in our nation’s capitol and state governments of this land!
No words can describe the profound impact this novel brings to all of us. We will not be the same people because Jesus is calling us.
